Email: rangerrick98@juno.com (please be kind when writing) **************************************** AUTHOR'S NOTES: This is my first attempt at any kind of fan fiction, so it might not be the best. It's my own spin-off series based on the "Digimon: Digital Monsters" TV show. This is a little different from the show, especially the first episode. It'll be more like the show after a couple episodes, though. Let me know what you think, and more episodes are coming soon. Enjoy! *****************************************
Digimon: DigiMaster
--------------------
Episode Three: The Meeting of Minds
------------------------------------
LAST TIME: Tai: "All us DigiDestined got together for the first of
our annual reunions to talk about our adventures in the DigiWorld and
find out how our digimon were doing through an email from Gennai. Sora
got mad at me during a little soccer game some of us played, but she
cooled off pretty quick. Joe, always the worrier, reminded us that
Apocalymon was formed from failed digivolutions and was all worried
that another one was forming behind that Wall of Fire. Just as Izzy
got Joe calmed down, Sora heard something off in the distance coming
straight for us!"
------------------------------------
Tai got out his little telescope thing and looked up and down the
road with it, looking for the source of the noise. Meanwhile, it kept
getting louder and louder.
"Wait a second!" Tai looked a little higher and couldn't believe
his eyes. There, a couple feet off the ground, flew the smallest plane
he'd ever seen. "Looks like you were right, TK. It's a really little
jet."
"See! Told ya!" said TK triumphantly to Kari. Kari just shrugged.
The eight DigiDestined stood dumbfounded as the jet came closer and
started flying lower, until wheels came out the bottom and the wings
contracted into the sides of the plane, and suddenly it was a little
car. The now-car slowed and stopped right in front of the group.
"Hello, DigiDestined! My name's Kevin, and I need your help."
The DigiDestined just stared at him. Of course, ever since saving
the world last year, they'd gotten quite a bit of coverage in the news,
lots of pictures taken, interviews, and that sort of thing. But even
something as big as saving two worlds became old news after a couple
months, and by Christmas break no one really mentioned it anymore. So
it was a little odd after such a long time to even hear someone call
them the DigiDestined.
"Um, excuse me Kevin, but what do you mean?" asked Tai.
"Well, it's a little complicated, but I'll try to explain. See, a
little while ago my world was invaded by some guy calling himself the
DigiMaster. He brought a huge army of many different creatures with
him, and he quickly took over the planet."
"Wait a second, your world?" asked Izzy. "You mean you're not from
Earth?"
"Not this Earth, no. But one like it, in a parallel universe."
"Prodigious! I always thought parallel universes existed, and now
I've got proof!"
"So, you were saying something about a DigiMaster?" prompted Tai.
"Yes. See, there must be a DigiWorld in my universe too, except
that it's different. There were never any DigiDestined and I guess the
bad digimon beat all the good digimon, or maybe there never were any
good digimon to start with. But somehow, somebody found the power to
control these evil digimon and bring them into the real world. And he
calls himself the DigiMaster."
"So what do you want us to do?" asked Joe.
"Yeah, I mean, we'd help if we could," said Matt, "but without our
digimon we wouldn't be able to do much."
"I understand that." replied Kevin. "But I think I have a way to
get you guys back into your DigiWorld to get your digimon. Izzy, what
kind of RAM and processor speed does that laptop have?"
Proudly holding up the laptop, Izzy said, "This baby's got a
gigahertz processor and 128 megabytes of RAM."
"Wow, that's pretty souped up all right. It should work nicely.
Here, plug this into it." Kevin handed him the free end of a cord
attached to some sort of handheld device. Izzy plugged it into a
communications port.
"Okay, now, if I could borrow two of your digivices...?"
Izzy immediately handed him his, but the others weren't so quick to
trust. After some discussion, Kari said she trusted him and handed him
her digivice.
"Okay, I'm scanning the first one now." Kevin passed his scanner
all around the digivice until it beeped. Immediately a 3D image of the
digivice appeared on Izzy's laptop display. "All right, and now the
second one." The second digivice appeared in a new window on the
screen. "Okay, now, let's take a look at how it works." He punched a
few buttons on the keyboard, and the outside of the image of the
digivice disappeared, showing all the wires and computer chips and
stuff inside. "Now if I trace this wire back to it's source...."
Kevin seemed to be talking more to himself than to anyone else, but
Izzy was staring at the screen as if hypnotized, drinking in everything
Kevin did and said.
"Yes, there's the first thing. See this, Izzy? This chip goes
with this block of programming, which activates the portal to the
DigiWorld! It's in the other one, too."
"Prodigious! Now we can go back and forth as much as we want!"
*Hmmm.... That's not good for them to know.* thought Kevin. *They
don't know what's in store for them in a couple years, and they aren't
SUPPOSED to be able to travel back to the DigiWorld yet. Well, this is
an emergency, so a little tampering with the timeline is excusable. I
hope.*
Kevin continued to study the digivice. "Now, let me see.... Ah,
there we go. This other part seems to be keyed in to a specific
lifeform reading. See, there's measurements for body heat, metabolic
rate, etc. This is probably what makes your digivice work for your
digimon only, and not any other digimon. See how it's different for
yours than it is for Kari's?" Kevin then took a high-density floppy
disk out of his pocket and copied the information to it.
"All right, we're all set to go get your digimon."
"Whoa, hold on!" exclaimed Joe. "You can't expect us to drop
everything and just leave. We have to tell our families where we're
going so they don't worry!"
"Relax, Joe. This machine of mine," said Kevin as he patted the
car/plane/transuniversal-something-or-other, "can bring us all back to
the exact time and place we left. It'll be like you were here the
whole time."
"Well.... Okay, since you can do that, I'm game."
"Everyone else okay with this?" Everyone chimed in with their OKs.
"Okay, then circle up and I'll open the portal."
Everyone got together in a circle with Kevin in the middle while he
setup his computer program on Izzy's laptop. Glancing around at
everyone, Kevin thought *Wow. I never would have thought I'd get to
meet the DigiDestined. I just wish it was under better circumstances!
Well, here we go!* He started the program, everyone's digivices lit
up, and....
They were gone.
---End of episode three---
Will the DigiDestined be able to find their digimon partners and
help Kevin? What is Kevin going to do with that disk full of
information about the digivices? Find out next time on "Digimon:
DigiMaster"!
