Episode Nine: French Fried Chicken

LAST TIME: Joe: "We finally got the fire key and found out
that the water key was in the Eiffel Tower in Paris. We borrowed
a boat and started across the ocean, much to my stomach's protest.
Along the way, some Sharkmon attacked us, but we were able to
drive them off pretty easily. After a long trip and lots of
seasickness pills, we finally made it to France. Now for the hard
part: getting the water key."

"Okay, Izzy," Tai was saying, "you're our
navigator. Which way do we go now?"
The DigiDestined had just gotten off the boat and
tied it to
the dock. Izzy opened his laptop and pulled up a map of the world
with the route they took from New York shown on it. Zooming in on
France, he pointed out where they landed, on the west coast.
"This is where we are now, and this," he said, pointing
to another location, "is where we're going."
"We should try to find some fast means of
transportation,"
said Kevin. "Let's look around for a car or something."
After a quick search of the area, no one found anything they
could use to speed up their journey. "All right, I guess
we'll have to walk. Let's go!" As they walked, they all
chatted about one thing or the other. Kevin and Izzy discussed
computers and other technology while Tentomon flew nearby, adding
things to the conversation now and then. The others mostly talked
to their digimon, getting caught up on what had been happening
the past year in each world.

Not too far away, an evil digimon sat, watching
monitors that
were tied into surveillance cameras scattered throughout western
France. He usually didn't bother with checking the displays
himself, but ever since the DigiMaster alerted everyone to the
threat of the so-called "DigiDestined", he'd been
watching them every day. It was pretty boring, actually, since
there was nothing to see but ruined buildings and empty streets.
Just when he was about to leave the monitors alone
for the
day, motion in one of the corner screens caught his eye. As he
watched, nine humans and eight digimon came into view, walking
down the street to the east. *Ah ha!* he thought. *These must be
the DigiDestined the DigiMaster was telling us all about.*
Opening a channel to the DigiMaster, the digimon said "Churimon
to DigiMaster, come in, please."
After a delay, Churimon got a response. "DigiMaster
here.
This better be good, Churimon. I was taking a nap."
"Oh, it's good, sir. I have located the DigiDestined
moving east through my sector."
"Excellent. Do not let them escape! They have
already
gotten the fire key, and they are probably going to Paris to get
the water key. They must not make it that far, do you understand?"
"Perfectly, sir. Churimon out." With that, Churimon
turned off his monitors and ran outside.

"Ouch, ouch, ouch!" said Mimi. "My poor feet!
Are you sure there's no easier way to get there?"
"Not unless we find a car Izzy can hotwire," replied
Kevin. "Until then, you're gonna have to walk."
"Actually," said a different voice from further up
the street, "I have the perfect solution to that. I'll just
destroy you right now! Your feet won't hurt anymore because you
won't be around to feel them!"
Everyone looked towards the voice, surprised. There
was a
digimon directly in their path. It looked like a giant red
chicken with a jet pack on its back. It was pretty silly-looking,
actually, but the DigiDestined knew better than to lower their
guard.
"We're not afraid of you!" shouted Tai.
"Yeah," agreed Sora. "Now get out of our way!"
"Your little group has spunk," Churimon said. "I
HATE spunk! Feather Missile!" Pointing both wings towards
the group, some of his feathers shot out, heading straight for
Mimi.
"Mimi, look out!" cried Palmon. "Palmon
digivolve to...TOGEMON!" Togemon jumped in front of Mimi and
took the hit from the Feather Missiles.
"Togemon, are you all right?" asked Mimi, rushing to
Togemon's side.
"I've been better," Togemon said weakly.
"Come on, guys!" said Tai. "Let's teach this
chicken a lesson!"
"Right!" they agreed, as their digivices began to
glow.
"Agumon digivolve to...GREYMON!"
"Gabumon digivolve to...GARURUMON!"
"Biyomon digivolve to...BIRDRAMON!"
"Tentomon digivolve to...KABUTERIMON!"
"Gomamon digivolve to...IKKAKUMON!"
"Patamon digivolve to...ANGEMON!"
"Nova Blast!" "Howling Blaster!" "Meteor
Wing!" "Electro Shocker!" "Harpoon Torpedo!"
"Hand of Fate!" Twisting and dodging furiously,
Churimon mangaged to avoid most of the attacks, but Ikkakumon's
Harpoon Torpedo turned in midair and hit him from behind.
Activating his jet pack, Churimon started to rise
into the air.
"Feather Missile!" He shot another round of missiles at
the group, knocking them down.
"I'm really starting to get sick of you, Churimon,"
said Togemon, who had recovered from the earlier hit. "Either
you come down here or I'm coming up there!" she added,
shaking one gloved fist.
"Ha! I'd like to see you try to come up here!"
taunted Churimon.
"Hey," shouted Mimi. "I've had enough of you.
Togemon!" Mimi turned to Togemon, her digivice glowing again.
"Togemon digivolve to...LILLYMON!" Lillymon flew up
to Churimon's level and looked him right in the eye.
"What?!?" exclaimed Churimon. "How'd you do
that?"
"Oh, it's not hard at all," said Lillymon. "All
you need is a little help from a friend." She looked back at
Mimi and winked.
Greymon and the others had recovered from the
missile attack a
little earlier, and were getting ready to attack again. "Wait
a sec, this guy's mine!" said Lillymon, and flew straight at
Churimon. "Flower Cannon!" she yelled, shooting a
powerful blast of energy at him.
"Nooo!" cried Churimon as he disintegrated into a
million pieces.

Back in the DigiWorld, DigiMaster sat in his throne
room,
watching his monitors. He saw Churimon be deleted by Lillymon's
blast and screamed, "You DigiDestined will soon pay for all
that you've done to me! I'm going to make your lives a living
nightmare!"
