Episode Eight: Sharkmon Invested Waters
----------------------------------------
LAST TIME: Gabumon: "We arrived at the Statue of Liberty to
get the fire key. After a good night's sleep, we rode Ikkakumon
across the water to the statue. Unfortunately, Pyredramon
appeared and started attacking us. All our attacks only
strengthened him, until Kevin and Izzy figured out that an ice
attack would have the opposite effect. I warp-digivolved to
MetalGarurumon and froze the fiery dragon in place long enough
for everyone else to delete him. Now that we have the fire key
our next stop is Paris, and the water key."
----------------------------------------
After defeating Pyredramon and getting the first of the four
keys, the group headed to the harbor to find a boat to use to get
to Paris. After convincing Joe that the owner of the boat would
understand, Izzy managed to hotwire the boat and they set off.
"Gee," said Mimi, "I didn't know you knew how
to hotwire something. Where'd you learn how to do that?"
Izzy turned to her. "It's just a matter of knowing
the
proper connections to make to bypass the--"
"Okay, okay, I didn't ask for a whole class about
it.
It's summer vacation, after all."
"Tai, I'm hungry," said Kari. "Can we have
dinner now?"
"Sure, Kari. Let's see.... How's peanut butter and
jelly
sound?"
"Delicious!"
"You want some, TK?"
"Sure!" said TK, joining them.
"Anyone else hungry?" Everyone else said that they
were, and came over to get some food.
Kevin checked the supplies. "Hmm..., we better go a
little easier on the food, or else we'll have to do a lot of
fishing before we get to Europe."
"That's not a problem, Kevin," said Gomamon. "I
can help us get all the fish we need."
"Yeah," said Agumon, "and I can help cook them."
"All right, then. Knock yourselves out!"
After everyone ate their fill, they settled in for
the ride.
Matt was at the helm, keeping the boat on course. TK, Kari,
Patamon, and Gatomon found some cards Kevin brought along and
started playing a game. All the other digimon were in the center
of the boat, taking a nap. Mimi was complaining to Izzy about
what the salt water could do to her hair, while Izzy typed away
on his laptop, not hearing a word. Joe was frantically searching
for seasickness pills while Kevin helped. And Tai and Sora were
just watching the ocean and chatting.
"Got any threes?" TK asked Kari.
"Go fish!" Kari said.
"Mmm...fish sounds good!" said Gatomon.
"Speak for yourself," said Joe, wearily. "Come
on, where are they?"
"I know they're in there somewhere, Joe," said
Kevin.
"I put them there myself."
"Yeah, well, I can't find them, and--uh oh!" Joe
quickly leaned over the edge of the boat.
"Poor Joe," said Tai. "You'd think he'd be able
to handle it better. I mean, when his digimon's Gomamon, he
spends a lot of time on the water."
"Yeah," agreed Sora. "But riding Ikkakumon or
Zudomon is a lot easier and smoother than riding a boat."
"Yeah, that's true." Tai looked at Sora. *Wow, she
has really pretty eyes. How come I never noticed that before?* He
just kept looking into her eyes, and she just kept looking back.
Tai was so absorbed in Sora's eyes that he completely forgot to
hang on to the railing, and when the boat hit a wave, he went
flying straight into the air and landed in the water behind the
boat.
"Tai! Matt, stop the boat. Tai fell out!" Matt
slowed the boat down and swung around to where Tai was floating.
"Are you all right, Tai?"
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"What happened?" asked Matt. By this time everyone
was awake and staring at Tai, who was still floating in the water.
"Uh, nothing. I, uh, just lost my grip on the rail,
that's all." Grabbing Matt's hand, Tai climbed back into the
boat. With the excitement over and the boat back on course,
everyone went back to whatever they were doing.
Sora came back over to join Tai, who was making sure
he held
on to the rail this time. "I'm glad you're all right,"
she said, blushing. "You know, I think--"
"Look out!" cried Mimi suddenly. Matt swerved the
boat quickly to the side, and everyone was thrown around. Over
Joe's groaning about being sick, Izzy asked, "What's going
on?"
"There's a big fish heading right for us!" yelled
Mimi. "Matt, do something!"
"I am, I am!" came the reply.
"That's no ordinary fish. It's Sharkmon," said Izzy,
checking his Digimon Analyzer. "His dorsal fin can shoot a
powerful blast of energy at his enemies."
"Don't worry, I'll take care of him," said Tentomon.
"Super Sho--" The rest of the sentence was muffled as
Izzy quickly put his hand over his mouth.
"No, Tentomon! If you do that, you'll electrify the
water
around us and short out the boat's engine."
"Oh, right. Sorry, Izzy."
"Don't worry guys, I'll get him," said Gomamon.
"Marching Fishes!" The multi-colored fish immediately
jumped out of the water and started attacking Sharkmon. He
swatted them away in annoyance.
"Fin Beam!" The blast struck the boat and knocked
everyone aboard off their feet.
"Pepper Breath!" "Blue Blaster!" These
attacks missed Sharkmon as he swam circles around their boat.
"He's moving too fast!" shouted Kevin.
"Yeah," agreed Agumon. "We can't hit him at
that speed."
"Then let's slow him down," said Palmon. "Poison
Ivy!" Her vines lashed out and wrapped around Sharkmon,
stopping him in his watery tracks. As he struggled, Palmon said,
"I can't hold him for long!"
"Pepper Breath!" "Blue Blaster!" "Spiral
Twister!" "Boom Bubble!" This time, they all hit
their mark. Screaming with pain and humiliation, Sharkmon swam
away. Everyone cheered.
Turning to Sora, Tai asked, "So, Sora, what were you
saying?"
"Huh?" replied Sora. "Oh, I forget." *Great,
now I'll never get the nerve to tell him.*
"Oh, okay," said Tai. *I wonder what she was going
to say.*
They continued their journey across the ocean. Every
so often,
a Sharkmon would attack, but they drove it off the same way they
did the first one. Finally, one morning everyone woke up to Tai's
voice yelling, "Land!"
Everyone got up and looked in the direction Tai was
pointing.
Sure enough, there was land. They had finally made it to Europe!
