Episode Seven: The Fire Key
----------------------------
LAST TIME: Agumon: "We started heading for New York to get
the fire key when Kevin decided to stop in a deserted town to get
some supplies. Tai wanted us to go with him, but Joe pointed out
that the whole group would be easy to recognize all together, so
Kevin went in alone. After a while, Tai got impatient so he and I
went into town, too. It's a good thing we did, because Kevin was
being crushed by Tinymon. I digivolved to Greymon and knocked
Tinymon out long enough to get away."
----------------------------
The group of humans and digimon had traveled a long way in the
past couple days, and had reached the shoreline. Across the water
stood the Statue of Liberty, and inside that was the fire key.
Since it was pretty late, they decided to get a good night's
sleep and then go for the fire key in the morning. Since it
wasn't very late yet, everyone sat around talking about different
things.
"So, Kevin, where are all the other humans on
Earth?"
asked Izzy, always curious. "We haven't seen anyone besides
you since we got here."
"Well Izzy," answered Kevin, "everyone who
could get away when the invasion started ran to one of the few
places that hasn't been totally taken over yet. The ones that
couldn't have all disappeared. I don't know what happened to them."
"How come you know so much about us?" asked TK.
"Yeah," agreed Matt. "You knew our names before
we even said anything."
"Well, that's a bit harder to explain." Kevin paused
for a moment, trying to figure out how he was going to put it.
Finally, he continued, "Before these evil digimon showed up,
a lot of people on Earth had never even heard of a digimon. Some
people had heard of them, but no one thought they were real. I
mean, NO ONE." Kevin took a deep breath. *Here's the doozy,*
he thought. "See, in this universe, Digimon...is the name of
a television cartoon show describing the adventures of eight
DigiDestined kids and their digimon--that is, you guys--as they
fight to restore peace to the DigiWorld and the real world."
Kevin paused to let that sink in. "So you see,
everything
you did from that first day in the DigiWorld up to your last day
in the DigiWorld has been seen here, in this universe, as
episodes of a TV show. That's how I know everything I know about
you."
"That," said Joe, "is just too weird for me to
think about."
"Wow, we're TV stars!" said TK. "That's pretty
cool."
"You said it, TK," replied Matt.
"Well," said Tai, his head still spinning from all
this, "I think we should probably go to sleep. Who knows
what we'll have to face tomorrow when we go after that key?"
With that, the group went to sleep.

"Sir, sir!" cried Compumon as he entered
DigiMaster's throne room.
Turning around menacingly, the DigiMaster said,
"Haven't
you ever heard of knocking first?"
"Oh, sorry sir. But I found some information that
you may
find useful."
"Very well, let's hear it."
"There was nothing left to get out of Kevin's
computers,
because he erased them all before we got there. But I've
identified the eight humans with Kevin. They're the DigiDestined,
sir!"
"The what?"
"According to the Digimon TV show they used to show
in
the real world, the DigiDestined were human children who had
digivices that linked them to their digimon, and allowed them to
digivolve on command."
"I see. Thank you, Compumon. You are dismissed." As
Compumon left, the DigiMaster thought to himself, *DigiDestined,
huh? Well, we'll see how well they do against my army!*

"Gomamon digivolve to....IKKAKUMON!"
It was the next morning, and the DigiDestined were
ready to
cross the water to the Statue of Liberty and get the fire key.
They all climbed on Ikkakumon and started across. They were
almost there, and nothing had attacked them or anything.
"I don't know, guys," said Izzy. "This seems
TOO easy."
"Yeah," agreed Palmon. "I mean, I thought we'd
be attacked or something." Just then, a huge fireball landed
in the water, just in front of them.
"Way to go, Palmon," said Mimi. "Now you've
gone and jinxed us!"
"Ooops! Sorry, Mimi!"
Everyone looked around for the source of the attack.
After a
few seconds, Kari said, pointing upwards, "There!"
Everyone looked where she was pointing.
There was a huge fiery dragon hovering high in the
sky,
between them and the Statue of Liberty. "That's Pyredramon,"
said Izzy, checking his computer. "A dragon digimon made
completely out of flames, like Meramon was. His Burning Claw
attack burns anything in its path."
"Harpoon Torpedo!" The torpedo struck Pyredramon
right in the chest, but had no effect!
"Looks like this guy's not going down easy,"
commented Sora.
"You're right. He's an Ultimate digimon, so we're
going
to need more power to defeat him."
"Biyomon digivolve to...BIRDRAMON!" "Tentomon
digivolve to...KABUTERIMON!" "Patamon digivolve to...ANGEMON!"
"Gatomon digivolve to...ANGEWOMON!"
"Meteor Wing!" "Electro Shocker!" "Hand
of Fate!" "Celestial Arrow!" All these attacks hit
Pyredramon head on, but were absorbed. Growing larger, Pyredramon
said, "Burning Claw!" Swinging his claw around, he
unleashed a massive fireball that hit Angemon and Angewomon,
knocking them out of range.
"Inconceivable!" exclaimed Izzy. "We're going
to need more power if we're going to defeat this one."
"You're right, Izzy!" said Sora.
"Birdramon digivolve to...GARUDAMON!" "Kabuterimon
digivolve to...MEGAKABUTERIMON!"
"Wing Blade!" "Horn Buster!" Again, these
attacks just got absorbed, making Pyredramon bigger and stronger.
"Burning Claw!" shouted the evil digimon, knocking
Garudamon and MegaKabuterimon in the direction of Angemon and
Angewomon.
"All of our attacks are being absorbed and making
him
stronger. What attacks wouldn't be absorbed by a fiery digimon?"
Izzy asked himself.
"The opposite of fire is ice, so something icy would
do
it," replied Kevin. "Too bad Frigimon's not around."
"Wait!" yelled Matt. "What about
MetalGarurumon's Ice Wolf Claw?"
"That should do it!" said Izzy excitedly.
"You heard them, Gabumon, do your thing!"
"Gabumon warp-digivolve to...METALGARURUMON!"
"Ice Wolf Claw!" This attack hit Pyredramon and had
just the effect they were looking for. The evil digimon's size
and strength decreased.
"Hit him again, MetalGarurumon!" yelled Matt. At
this point, the other digimon had made it back from where they
were thrown to earlier.
"Ice Wolf Claw!" Again hitting the evil digimon,
this time it actually froze the fire digimon in midair!
"Now's our chance! Everyone attack at once!" yelled
Tai.
"Harpoon Torpedo!" "Wing Blade!" "Horn
Buster!" "Hand of Fate!" "Celestial Arrow!"
All these attacks hit Pyredramon and deleted him at last.
Ikkakumon swam to shore and let everyone off, then de-digivolved
to Gomamon. The others came back to the group and de-digivolved,
as well.
"All right, let's get the fire key!" said Kevin, and
everyone ran inside the Statue of Liberty. They found the fire
key in the torch of the Statue. It was a round disc with a flame
pictured on it, and that flame continued through the bottom of
the disk to form a small rod shaped like the flame. As soon as
they got the fire key, a message appeared where it had been,
saying "The water key is located at the top of the Eiffel
Tower, in Paris, France."
"Ooo, Paris!" said Mimi. "I should be able to
get a killer wardrobe there."
"Mimi!" chorused the others.
*So, now that we have the fire key, we're off to
Paris to get
the water key.* thought Kevin. *With my friends helping me out,
I'm sure we'll succeed!*
