Episode 44 -  Trash Day

Everyone's searching for Matt. They're afraid he's been kidnapped until Joe tells them that he saw Matt walk off by himself with Gabumon.
Matt continues to walk along a lake and Gabumon follows. Puppetmon spies them from behind a tree, and his henchman Cherrymon, who resembles a tree, thinks up a plan. Matt talks to Gabumon about how he's finally figured it out. Everyone's grown, changed...except him; he's still in the same place he was before, the same jerk. Like everyone's digivolves but him.
Cherrymon approaches Matt and gives him a heart-to-heart talk about Matt's 'problems'. Matt laughs everything off and refuses to listen to Cherrymon, but his unhappy emotions finally make him do what Cherrymon says. He looks into the water to see the face of the person who's holding him back from changing, his one true rival - and sees Tai. Matt won't believe  him, but Cherrymon talks to him more, making him think that the only person he can really depend on is himself, that the words friendship and loyalty don't mean a thing.
Wind and leaves whirl around them in a rush of air, and Gabumon tells Matt that he will always stand by Matt's side and that Matt should do whatever his heart tells him too. That no matter what, Matt must know that he has one true friend.
Matt is touched by this act of friendship and his crest glows. Gabumon warp digivolves to Metalgarurumon, and the both of them head toward the others.
The others' search for Matt is interrupted by a rude intrusion from Puppetmon and his henchmen Garbagemon. The Garbagemon attack and kids are forced to run. The digimon digivolve and attack, but it wasn't enough. Togemon digivolves again to Lillymon and then Greymon digivolves to Metalgreymon. Things look good until Garbagemon starts sucking everything into his trashcan - the trees, the grass - and then Kari and Gatomon get caught in the suction.
Metalgarurumon's metal wolf claw comes and hits Garbagemon, stopping the suction and destroying Garbagemon. Matt comes out from behind the trees and the others are overjoyed to see him.
Metalgarurumon uses his eyes and blasts the ground near Agumon, proposing that the digivolve to Wargreymon so that they can battle. Agumon doesn't know what to do, and Metalgarurumon shoot missiles at him, forcing him to duck.
Tai tries to get Matt to call him off, but Matt won't. Agumon realizes that Metalgarurumon really means it, that he really wants to battle with him...and so ends this chapter. Will Metalgarurumon and Wargreymon destroy each other?
