The kids all meet up with each other except for Sora and Biyomon. They get a reading on their digivices that means Sora's near. They go looking for her, but are attacked by Flymon, a virus digimon using his stinger for an attack.
The digimon digivolve as their human friends run for cover. They attack, but Flymon easily dodges their attacks. Then Birdramon comes and blasts Flymon away with her meteor wing.
The others figure that if Birdramon is here, Sora must be too. Tai, Matt, T.K., and their digimon run after Birdramon and find Sora. Sora looks trapped, but Biyomon flies up and suggests that she tell them what happened.
Sora tells them about how she and Biyomon came across Demidevimon, who, at the time, was talking to Myotismon through a bubble about their crests. She heard that each crest has it's own special meaning. Tai's crest is the crest of courage, Matt's is friendship, T.K.'s is hope, Izzy's is knowledge, Joe's is reliability, Mimi's is sincerity, and Sora's is love. Demidevimon convinces Sora that her crest will never glow. Sora believes this because of an incident that happened with her mother a while ago, making her feel unloved.
Sora wanted to go play in her girls soccer team because it was the final playoffs, but her mom wouldn't let her since her knee was injured. Instead, she wanted Sora to stop playing soccer and come home to work at her flower shop. Sora refused, and her mother still wouldn't let her. Sora shouted, "Why can't you understand?" and runs out of the house. Sora walked around for hours and ended up at the soccer field. Her team had lost, 6 to 3, and were all depressed. Sora felt like it was all her fault.
Tai tells Sora not to believe Demidevimon, but Sora starts crying anyway. Tai panics, but Matt just says to let her go. The others catch up with them, and they go camp out.
That night, Demidevimon comes along and throws his demidart at Sora, but Biyomon wakes up just in time and covers her, getting hit with the dart instead. Sora sees the dart in Biyomon and pulls it out of her. Tai wakes up and asks what's wrong, then T.K. sees Demidevimon, who makes a fast escape. The others wake up as the sky turns dark and Myhotismon comes, introduced by Demidevimon.
They fight each other and some of the digimon digivolve. Unfortunately, Myotismon uses his crimson lightning and thrashes them all back. Biyomon gets ready to fight, but Sora holds her back and won't let her. Biyomon struggles to get out of Sora's arms, but Sora still refuses to go. Biyomon shouts, "Sora, why can't you understand?" and Sora realizes that she's acting just like her mother.
Biyomon digivolves to Birdramon, but gets struck by Myotismon's crimson lightning. Sora shouts that she loves Biyomon, and her crest begins to glow. Birdramon digivolves to Garudamon and fights against Myotismon's grisly wing. While he's busy defending himself against Garudamon's wing blade, the others get carried away safely by Garudamon.
Safe at last, Sora explains to everyone how she was acting just like her mother. Tai says that he felt her love, and Joe mentions about his uncomfortableness, which is solved by Mimi. Matt starts to play his harmonica, but then the sky darkens once more, and Myotismon's voice is heard, threatening them. Will they survive their next encounter with Myotismon.
