Tai, Joe, Agumon and Gomamon reach a castle after paddling a far distance. They enter and find a group of Gekomon and Otamamon running around doing chores for the princess there. The princess appears and it turns out to be Mimi.
Now that they've found her, the group is ready to go. But Mimi refuses, preferring to stay in the castle as a princess. When the others refuse to budge until Mimi comes with them, Mimi she calls the Gekomon to throw them out of the castle.
After being kicked out, Tai wonders why the Gekomon are treating Mimi like royalty. The Gekomon lead them to a room and explain their situation.
Their lord and master, Shogungekomon, was very proud of his voice. He entered a singing contest but sadly he lost. He feel into a deep sleep, staying that way for 300 years. It's said that only a voice as beautiful as the one who beat him can wake him up. So they found Mimi, who sang for them.
In the middle of the song, she forgets the words. The Gekomon give her a big feast and Mimi relishes it. She begins singing again, but makes up excuses not to. The Gekomon oblige to her wishes because no one else can wake up Shogungekomon. Unfortunately, Mimi continued to act that way and became the princess she is now.
The Gekomon ask them for their help. Tai decides that they don't need Mimi, so instead he takes a shot at waking up Shogungekomon. (This part is really funny!) Tai sings, but it's useless. So does Joe, but it doesn't work either. Then Agumon and Gomamon sing (they look really cute in this part!), only to have everyone listening cover their ears.
Palmon comes along and helps them out. They try tricking Mimi into singing so they could record it on the karaoke machine, but Mimi sees the cord leading outside where Agumon's and Joe's head are visible, so she screams and Tai takes the shock.
Angry, she throws them into the dungeon. That night, she dreams that because of the way she acted, no one will help her against the attacking evil digimon. Then an image of Sora comes and helps her understand what the dream was telling her. Mimi wakes up, finding that her crest is glowing.
The Gekomon release the four prisoners and bring them to the Shogungekomon's room. Mimi apologizes to them for being such an idiot and in return, sings to them. Shogungekomon wakes up, but in a nasty mood. He attacks them all, and when Mimi yells at him, Palmon is forced to digivolve to protect her. Agumon and Gomamon have also digivolved into Greymon and Ikkakumon. Then Greymon digivolves to Metalgreymon and defeats Shogungekomon. Now they're ready to travel back to the others!
