Izzy discovers that Datamon is holding Sora inside the pyramid in a secret area that even Etemon doesn't know about. The kids figure out a plan to save Sora.
Matt, Joe and their digimon attack the digimon guarding the pyramid, driving them away from the entrance. Izzy, Tai, Tentomon and Agumon enter the pyramid and work their way to the bottom of the pyramid. Outside, Etemon fights against the digimon, including Togemon who has also joined the battle. Things look bad until Etemon receives a message from the Gazimon that two kids are inside the pyramid. Etemon figures that they'd only be there if Datamon still is. During that, Matt, Joe, Mimi, T.K. and their digimon hide under a sand-coloured blanket, safe from Etemon.
Meanwhile, Sora wakes up trapped in some machine and sees that Biyomon is chained to the wall. Datamon has Sora's crest and begins making an exact copy of Sora, believing that Biyomon will listen to it if it has possession of the crest. He wants revenge on Etemon as all he remembers is the fight against him and Etemon.
Izzy and Tai are about to go down the stairs that should lead straight to Datamon when Etemon comes crashing through the wall. Tentomon digivolves to Kabuterimon while Tai and Agumon rush down the stairs. They come to a firewall. Tai's scared but he knows he's go to go through. When he does, his crest glows and they enter Datamon's secret room. Tai sees Sora's copy but Sora yells to show him that it's a fake. Tai grabs Sora's tag and crest, making Datamon mad. He opens up a black pit, the center of Etemon's Dark Network and Sora falls into it. Tai grabs her just in time. Datamon explains that whatever falls into it will be lost for all eternity. He tries to separate Sora's hand from Tai's, but Tai hands her tag and crest and Biyomon digivolves to Birdramon, who takes them and flies away. Etemon comes as Datamon destroys Sora's copy that he has no use for anymore. Etemon jumps at him, but Datamon pulls him down toward the black pit, dropping viruses into it so that it will continue to grow and suck in any bad data like them. They both fall in.
Tai, Sora and Izzy make it out of the pyramid and receive a big welcome from the others. But then the network comes crashing through the pyramid in a big ball with Etemon still alive in it. Etemon throws a ball at them and they duck. The ball hits something in the distance and literally twists it into nothingness. The digimon digivolve and attack, but the network only grows bigger. Tai and Greymon charge at Etemon when Tai's crest begins to glow. Greymon digivolves to Metalgreymon and destroys the Network with his giga blaster. The network twists into nothingness, but Tai and Metalgreymon are sucked into it too.
Tai and Koromon wake up and find themselves in another world, which Tai realizes is his own.
