Weather all over the world is going crazy. At summer camp, Taichi "Tai" Kamiya, and six other kids, Sora Takenouchi, Yamato "Matt" Ishida, Koushiro "Izzy" Izumi, Mimi Tachikawa, Takeru "T.K." Takaishi and Joe Kido, watch the sky as it changes colours. Seven devices fly out of the sky towards them, and they are transported to another world.
Tai wakes up with a pink thing on his stomach. The creature introduces himself as Koromon, who claims to have been waiting for Tai because they're partners. Izzy comes, followed by another pink creature named Motimon.
Tai climbs up a tree to get a better look at the place, but sees nothing he recognizes. A giant bug comes flying at him, and Koromon realizes it's Kuwagumon, and insectoid digimon. Koromon uses his bubble blow to attack him, but gets hit by Kuwagumon. Tai rushes over to the brave little guy, but Izzy spots Kuwagumon again and Motimon leas them to shelter in a tree.
After a while, it becomes quiet and they're greeted by Sora who informs them that Kuwagumon is gone. Sora also has her own digimon, Yocomon. Tokomon and T.K. join up with them, followed by Matt and Tsunomon. Joe comes along in a panic, followed by Bukamon. The kids and the digimon introduce themselves formally.  They realize that Mimi is missing. They hear Mimi scream and she comes running with Tanemon as Kuwagumon chases after them.
The kids all run, but come to a cliff. The digimon, tired of running, turn around to fight. The kids hold them back, knowing it would be a hopeless battle. Struggling, the digimon  free themselves of the kids' grasp and attack Kuwagumon with their bubbles. The digivices being to glow and each digimon is encircled in light. They each digivolve, Koromon to Agumon, Yocomon to Biyomon, Motimon to Tentomon, Tsunomon to Gabumon, Tokomon to Patamon, Bukamon to Gomamon, and Tanemon to Palmon. They all attack, one at a time. Then they use their attacks altogether, and Kuwagumon falls back into the forest.
Everyone's cheering and hugging at their victory. But appparantly they celebrated too soon because Kuwagumon is back upon his feet! He smashes the cliff they're standing on, and the cliff and everone fall into the river beneath the. Will they survive their fall?
